Elmar Sonnenschein is a lecturer at the Hochschule Flensburg, and is Managing Director of Esoco GmbH.

Elmar trained as a Diplom Wirtschaftsinformatiker and as software engineer and software architect, working for StarDivision GmbH and mobilcom AG. Since 2005, he has been general manager of Esoco, a company that provides IT consulting services with a focus on software development and developer training. In software development the emphasis lies on the development of business and web applications based on Java and Javascript. Furthermore Esoco currently evaluates the possibilities of the emerging blockchain technology for the purpose of software development and provides training and consulting for this topic.

From 2005 onwards, he is also an external lecturer at the Hochschule Flensburg.
